Hullo all. Things have been crazy with work and my preparations to leave the army. I’ll finally be out in a couple months! Sorry I haven’t posted in forever, but I promise I will start again soon! Just wanted to say I just got done with one of the crazy busiest weeks at work, topped off with the most legendary trip to Universal Studios in Orlando for Opening Weekend of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!! My little brother actually took this picture (I was the best man). My best friend finally got married after being engaged for like seven years. In this age of overblown celebrity hookups and breakups, couples lying and cheating, and the divorce rate at an all time high, it’s comforting to see that sincere love and affection, like these two have, is still out there.

8 June 2010 Shooting Challenge! - Eyes

Okay everyone, my little brother and I have begun our little photography challenge. This is mainly a way for me and him to get practice and (hopefully) take some neat pics. We know that there are tons of sites out there that do shooting challenges, so what’s the difference? We don’t care if it’s good or bad. Ideally, we want this to be a way for others who read our blogs to offer critique and criticism so that we all benefit and get better! We hope you enjoy what we come up with.

This week’s theme is “eyes”. It could be anything- a person’s eye (or eyes) to something more abstract/artistic. As long as it has the theme in it, it’s good. The deadline is 14 JUNE 2010. If you would like to join in on the fun, just submit a post on the deadline. Other things that should be in the post:

- Date taken (this is more for personal reference)
- Type of camera used
- ISO (or film speed, only if applicable)
- Aperture (again, only if applicable)
- Any other details you want to include (flash/no flash, focal length, where you took the picture, how you found it, etc)

Once the deadline hits, we will post our results. Thanks for playing along and please, please, PLEASE help us by offering your opinions and critique. Thanks for your time! ^_^

Shot this at my dad’s taekwondo school. The daughter of one of my dad’s students and my cousin. The little one finally held still long enough for a photo. And it only took an hour. Aren’t they cute? ^^

Silent Night

Got a chance to take this one night while there weren’t any mortar or rocket attacks. I snuck up to the roof of one of the buildings and snapped this (we weren’t allowed all the way up there >.<). Up to that point, the only experiences I had out in the city were long periods of nervousness interrupted by moments of absolute insanity. Funny how things look different at night. It’s easy to associate all sorts of horrible things with this conflict, but this helped me remember that it’s a small group of a people that are ugly, not the entire country.
